{In Denton, TX...}
So today I started my first day of my 5th and hopefully last year of school at the University of North Texas. My classes for this semester are history of photography, alternative photographic processes, photography studio, photo and the web and advanced composition and oral practices (I'm minoring in Spanish as well).
It's going to be a tough year nonetheless.
I'm looking forward to the many challenges I will face this year, juggling my photography business as well as my art and school, family, friends and boyfriend. I have faith in myself and the inspiration to keep on truckin'. Life is amazing and I have no idea what the future holds for me, but I have a feeling that it is positive and bright.
This is me in my bedroom. It's pretty hard for me to take a self portrait with a DSLR, with nice depth of field with no trigger! I had to focus on my hand and try to place my head where my hand was...if you're not a photographer you probably won't understand my predicament!

The conch shell holds sage, which I like to burn to make my place smell awesome. The bottle is an old, vintage Avon bottle.
I got this cool hand accordion in one of my favorite towns, Fredericksburg, TX.
This is my cat, Ashley. I've known her since she was a kitten and we have grown up together. Now she chills with me...and gets in the way of photos...she is too cute so I don't mind!
Another old Avon bottle, some games I gotta return, ugly orange flowers...but they have a funny story.
These sweet, colorful pieces were found at a thrift store.
Old rug from a thrift store...I told you Ashley gets in the way!
I found these lanterns at World Market.
My silly boyfriend got me this awesome little "Old Lady Cactus" for my 22nd birthday.
The painting over my TV is one of my oil paintings. My game systems are in a mess...shhhh.
The clay bear face is one of my sculptures. The flute is a handmade Choctaw flute that I have learned to play. The green jar was found at a flea market in Fredericksburg, TX. I like to store extra coins in it.
Another one of my paintings that I learned how to do from this guy when he came to my bookmaking class. He spoke completely Turkish and had a translator. It was a fun day!

I have a couple of close friends trying to raise money for a feature film. You can choose an award for donating too! The catch is, they HAVE to reach the goal minimum or else they won't be receiving any money. If you enjoy talented indie filmmakers I totally think you should help them out!

So it's been a cold, crazy past couple of days. North Texas is currently colder than Anchorage, Alaska. School has been canceled 4 days in a row. I've been hanging out with good friends, meeting new ones and doing a lot of 'virtual errands'.
My friend John and I took advantage of this 'snowpocalypse' and took some goofy snow pictures (of course).

So, I was supposed to be taking detail shots of my camera bag, and Ashley was just looking too cute to function on my new comforter.
I love my baby...I've had her since she was a kitten. We grew up together and now she lives in my apartment with me. It's funny how animals can have so much personality.

I love dogs...
I have a gorgeous cat, Ashley that I've known for many, many years! But I can't wait to save a doggy from the animal shelter when the time comes. : )
Here is a random shot of Kaiser, a client/friends dog that jumped on the bed during a photo session!

SPRING AWAKENING takes its inspiration from one of literature’s most controversial masterpieces – a work so daring in its depiction of teenage self-discovery, it was banned from the stage and not performed in its complete form in English for nearly 100 years.
It’s Germany, 1891. A world where the grown-ups hold all the cards. The beautiful young Wendla explores the mysteries of her body, and wonders aloud where babies come from, till Mama tells her to shut it, and put on a proper dress. Elsewhere, the brilliant and fearless young Melchior interrupts a mind-numbing Latin drill to defend his buddy Moritz – a boy so traumatized by puberty he can’t concentrate on anything. Not that the Headmaster cares. He strikes them both and tells them to turn in their lesson.
One afternoon – in a private place in the woods – Melchior and Wendla meet by accident, and soon find within themselves a desire unlike anything they’ve ever felt. As they fumble their way into one another’s arms, Moritz flounders and soon fails out of school. When even his one adult friend, Melchior’s mother, ignores his plea for help, he is left so distraught he can’t hear the promise of life offered by his outcast friend Ilse.
Naturally, the Headmasters waste no time in pinning the “crime” of Moritz’s suicide on Melchior and expel him. And soon Mama learns her little Wendla is pregnant. Now the young lovers must struggle against all odds to build a world together for their child.
Music by Duncan Sheik
Book & Lyrics by Steven Sater
Directing by Michael Mayer
Choreography by Bill T. Jones

My love for this musical is...out of this world! I've seen in once in Houston, TX and it's the most played album in my iTunes library. I've been hooked since 2007!

Me (on left) and my sister, Amanda (on right) when we traveled to Houston, TX to see it! (Pre-photographer year)
