First day of final year...hopefully!

{In Denton, TX...}

So today I started my first day of my 5th and hopefully last year of school at the University of North Texas. My classes for this semester are history of photography, alternative photographic processes, photography studio, photo and the web and advanced composition and oral practices (I'm minoring in Spanish as well).

It's going to be a tough year nonetheless.

I'm looking forward to the many challenges I will face this year, juggling my photography business as well as my art and school, family, friends and boyfriend. I have faith in myself and the inspiration to keep on truckin'. Life is amazing and I have no idea what the future holds for me, but I have a feeling that it is positive and bright.

This is me in my bedroom. It's pretty hard for me to take a self portrait with a DSLR, with nice depth of field with no trigger! I had to focus on my hand and try to place my head where my hand was...if you're not a photographer you probably won't understand my predicament!

My new apartment. The living room!

{In Denton, TX...}

So I love decorating and collecting from garage sales, flea markets, thrift stores and antique stores. I even find myself watching "American Pickers" from time to time. I just love bargains and finding interesting knick-knacks and items with a history, a story. So I took pictures of my current living room for now.

My sweet boyfriend Philip made me this cute, little vampire drawing.

The conch shell holds sage, which I like to burn to make my place smell awesome. The bottle is an old, vintage Avon bottle.

I got this cool hand accordion in one of my favorite towns, Fredericksburg, TX.

The view camera I got from a garage sale for a measly 25 cents!

This is my cat, Ashley. I've known her since she was a kitten and we have grown up together. Now she chills with me...and gets in the way of photos...she is too cute so I don't mind!

Another old Avon bottle, some games I gotta return, ugly orange flowers...but they have a funny story.

These sweet, colorful pieces were found at a thrift store.

Old rug from a thrift store...I told you Ashley gets in the way!
I found these lanterns at World Market.

My silly boyfriend got me this awesome little "Old Lady Cactus" for my 22nd birthday.

The painting over my TV is one of my oil paintings. My game systems are in a mess...shhhh.

The clay bear face is one of my sculptures. The flute is a handmade Choctaw flute that I have learned to play. The green jar was found at a flea market in Fredericksburg, TX. I like to store extra coins in it.

Another one of my paintings that I learned how to do from this guy when he came to my bookmaking class. He spoke completely Turkish and had a translator. It was a fun day!

Belladonna Springs

I have a couple of close friends trying to raise money for a feature film. You can choose an award for donating too! The catch is, they HAVE to reach the goal minimum or else they won't be receiving any money. If you enjoy talented indie filmmakers I totally think you should help them out!

Click the link here!

Belladonna Springs is a feature length film. This will be their second feature length film to create together. Half of the film takes place in North Texas and the other half takes place in the mountains of Colorado. This is a very big undertaking and they will be needing enough money for the travel of all Cast and Crew. They also need to acquire equipment such as lights, dolly, and a jib. This film is going to be entered into film festivals around the world including Sundance, Cannes, and many more. They will be shooting with a Canon 5D, but still need to buy a set of prime lenses. You can be a part of something big if you contribute. They are hoping to raise enough money to hire at least one known actor.

Snow Day in Texas

So it's been a cold, crazy past couple of days. North Texas is currently colder than Anchorage, Alaska. School has been canceled 4 days in a row. I've been hanging out with good friends, meeting new ones and doing a lot of 'virtual errands'.

My friend John and I took advantage of this 'snowpocalypse' and took some goofy snow pictures (of course).

Whats the point of fingerless gloves? I guess to text...

Snow makes me gleeful.

I poke the snow.

Serious time.

I like to frolic in the snow.

(These pictures were taken with Johns Canon 60D + 50mm 1.8 lens and were edited by me)

Too Cute to Function

So, I was supposed to be taking detail shots of my camera bag, and Ashley was just looking too cute to function on my new comforter.

I love my baby...I've had her since she was a kitten. We grew up together and now she lives in my apartment with me. It's funny how animals can have so much personality.

Thanks Papa

I was browsing through my pictures and found an image I took of my papa a while back. Something about it intrigues me. I wonder what he was thinking about? He used to be a photographer himself you know...

Papa has helped me with so much in my life, there aren't enough words to be able to thank him enough.

Spring Awakening, Dallas March 23-April 4 2010!

SPRING AWAKENING takes its inspiration from one of literature’s most controversial masterpieces – a work so daring in its depiction of teenage self-discovery, it was banned from the stage and not performed in its complete form in English for nearly 100 years.

It’s Germany, 1891. A world where the grown-ups hold all the cards. The beautiful young Wendla explores the mysteries of her body, and wonders aloud where babies come from, till Mama tells her to shut it, and put on a proper dress. Elsewhere, the brilliant and fearless young Melchior interrupts a mind-numbing Latin drill to defend his buddy Moritz – a boy so traumatized by puberty he can’t concentrate on anything. Not that the Headmaster cares. He strikes them both and tells them to turn in their lesson.

One afternoon – in a private place in the woods – Melchior and Wendla meet by accident, and soon find within themselves a desire unlike anything they’ve ever felt. As they fumble their way into one another’s arms, Moritz flounders and soon fails out of school. When even his one adult friend, Melchior’s mother, ignores his plea for help, he is left so distraught he can’t hear the promise of life offered by his outcast friend Ilse.

Naturally, the Headmasters waste no time in pinning the “crime” of Moritz’s suicide on Melchior and expel him. And soon Mama learns her little Wendla is pregnant. Now the young lovers must struggle against all odds to build a world together for their child.

Music by Duncan Sheik
Book & Lyrics by Steven Sater
Directing by Michael Mayer
Choreography by Bill T. Jones

Pssst (Jake Epstein from Degrassi is playing a main character...) ; )

My love for this musical is...out of this world! I've seen in once in Houston, TX and it's the most played album in my iTunes library. I've been hooked since 2007!

Just some promo pics (not by me of course!!!)

Me (on left) and my sister, Amanda (on right) when we traveled to Houston, TX to see it! (Pre-photographer year)

We ate at Spaghetti Western before we went. Dude on right was not going to Spring Awakening, he was going to a trucker rally.

I posted some posters around my college! (Sucky camera phone)
